The Sum of All Fears: Ben Affleck talked the Tom Clancy thriller to ET Online and revealed some more plot points: "This is kind of the origin of Jack Ryan. It's using the framework of The Sum of All Fears plot line, but taking the Jack Ryan character back in time. So he's been in the CIA for 14 months, he's just got his doctorate; he's very green and inexperienced. Part of what's fun about this character is throwing him into situations where he's in way over his head. You get to see all these exciting, high-ranking people for the very first time. The more of a superhero you make a character, I think the less people can identify with him and the less interesting he is. Like Superman, he just always wins, you know. That wasn't something that we wanted to do with this. My character takes a lot of beatings in this film. He makes a lot of mistakes, and he's insecure. Jack Ryan's smart and capable, but he's not without humanity". Thanks to 'Tja'

I knew this movie was in trouble when i heard pretty boy Ben Aff-GACK was going to be Jack Ryan but i had hopes that somehow Tom Clancy could save his book.
He hasn't. 
I swear of you yelled in one of Ben's ears you would hear an echo.
The only similarity this has to the EXCELLENT book is the title.
