I think, there is no simple translation for this expression. It merely describes someone who crosses the border (not only in physicall aspect), and accordingly also someone who is prepared to cross any borders (phisically and mentally) - to take any risks.

But OTOH, I'll let our german friends to find perhaps better solution. I just happen to speak German and English.

Why wouldn't Immaculate Perception be translated that way? Germany, with a rich Lutheran heritage ought to get that reference?

Or why translate Ouroboros at all??? it was obscure to us too...it's part of ancient mythology. What was wrong with giving the German viewers the opportunity to investigate that myth the same way we did?

Well if that's the meaning of "Grenzganger," then the title change very much fits the episode, from a Trance perspective, IMO (YMMV of course )!

Yeah, they had done it before too - in S1, SC has been aired as, if I remember correctly, ep No. 119 and IHCRAL wasn't aired as a part of S1 at all (perhaps to prevent cliffhanger syndrome ). It was aired as first ep of S2.

However, some german titles make sense, while others???? NAAAH, I wouldn't say "The planet of the imprisoned" does mean the same as "Rose in the ashes"?
