Someone said from Gallifrey that a wish was to have Andromeda picked up by a network. Apparently it was in the works, but then there was a strike, and that ended that. What are the odds of reviving that effort? Can it be done? Can the fans help? ------------------ "The important thing is, Harper, you're alive. As for the cost, there is no way to change that. All you can do is earn it." |

Interesting. Didn't know that. I'd love to hear about it, though. {{{{{{{{{QT}}}}}} You lucky devil, you. Wish I'd been at Gallifrey. |

You've got it turned around, Queen Tiye. Because there was a threatened strike by the American writers and actors, there was a slight chance that the Canadian-made and produced (Fireworks) DROM could be used to fill in on the WB network due to the lack of new American shows. (WGN, Tribune-owned, is a WB affiliate.) However, new contracts for the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild were negotiated without a strike, so the odds now of this happening are zero. Sorry to burst your bubble. Cardie |

Do you mean absolutely ZERO, or just rather unlikely? And, we have no ability to influence outcome?

quote: Well, never say never, but my impression is that Tribune/Fireworks target the syndication market exclusively and aren't looking for a network. After DROM finishes its run, I could see it winding up on the SciFi channel or some other cable network, but not on one of the regular broadcast networks, and not in first-run. Maybe a lurking Tribunite could straighten me out if I've got this wrong. Cardie

Yeah, this was pretty much a series of big "ifs" that never got started happening. For it to happen right now, either Tribune would have to actively try to sell the series off to a network (who would then have to be interested), or a network would have to try to buy it from Tribune, and Tribune willing to sell. Since it's Tribune's top ratings machine right now, I don't see Tribune interested in selling it. Rhys ------------------
