Ethlie Ann Vare will shortly be returning to the Andromeda universe, only this time she won't be writing an episode, but a novel. The former Andromeda staffer announced at her official web site that she has been asked by Tor Books to write the second installment in their line of tie-in novels. "It will be my first novel, and I'm wildly excited about the prospect. Writing a novel sounds so grown up, don't you think?" Vare wrote. "I'll give you more information about the volume -- a title, even -- when things are firmed up. As it stands, I don't know yet whether Trance will be pink or purple. But I think it's a safe bet that Beka Valentine will have one or two things to say for herself :) Sigh. I'm already looking forward to spending the next few months with these characters. I've missed them!" Vare served as a writer-producer on Andromeda for the show's first two seasons, penning episodes such as 'The Pearls That Were His Eyes', 'It Makes A Lovely Light' and 'Home Fires'. She now works as head writer on the new Tribune Entertainment series Adventure Inc. 'Destruction of Illusions,' the first Andromeda novel, was penned by well-known media tie-in author Keith R. A. DeCandido. The book is a prequel to the series and explores the lives of the Eureka Maru crew and Tyr before they signed on with Dylan Hunt. Set for release in February 2003, it can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com for $17.47, 30% off the recommended purchase price. Vare's original article can be found here at her official web site. |

Great news. However, I would have liked it far better if they'd simply rehire her.

Me too, Tetzner, but I'll definitely take this.
I might even buy it in hardcover... maybe... |

Yeah and Tribune can't spoil this book as they did with the show itself.
