Sorbo Elaborates On Season 3 Changes
      2002/10/28 06:18 PM

Kevin Sorbo (Dylan Hunt) recently took steps to reassure fans that season three will not involve too much change from the show's familiar formula.

"This is an intensive season in many ways, including technically," he told Cinescape magazine. "It comes down to this: 'We're not going to take anything away from what the fans have loved about our show in the past. But we are going to keep it moving so that the fans can always find something new."

"The episodes this season are going to be more stand-alone," he said. "They're going to be more accessible to viewers who haven't been able to catch every single episode. It's something that I feel very strongly is important to the development of the show.

"We're going to be seeing more character development. We're going to explore and get inside some of these wonderful characters."

The actor also addressed one of the show's biggest storylines - the Commonwealth. "Don't get me wrong, the Commonwealth isn't going to go away. It's going to be there, and it's going to have its problems. It's going to need Hunt back from time to time," he said.

"But if the Commonwealth needed Hunt constantly, if it couldn't sand on its own, then Hunt wouldn't have done his job properly. It has to be autonomous, or it wouldn't be able to do what it needs to do."

Lexa Doig (Andromeda) enthused about upcoming guest stars for the show. "Tony Todd makes an appearance, so I got to hang out with the guy who played Candyman!" she said of this week's upcoming 'The Lone & Level Sands'. "Plus William Katt - how cool am I that I've worked with the 'Greatest American Hero?' I grew up watching him and always loved him."

The actress talked about her favourite season three episode. "One of my favourite episodes so far in the new season is one that we've already shot. It's an episode where we get inside the mind of Trance way, way inside."

More from Kevin Sorbo and Lexa Doig can be found in the current Cinescape TV Mania Special magazine, out to buy now. Thanks go out out to Movie Imp for this!

While I know this interview will cause lots of trouble, I have to say I think the point he is making about the CW is a valid one. The show can't or shouldn't, IMO, revolve around Dylan and crew simply hanging out supporting the CW. I mean I think supporting the CW is what they will do when they are off and about, but we don't need ep after ep showing them being given orders, them following the orders and the CW expanding because of that. I mean, the CW has started, Dylan will watch it, be involved and work with it and there will be shows that address/discuss/bring in/the CW aspect. But we don't need it every ep, all the time. Do we?

Stand alone eps, are good, but yeah I would like more than that. I like the arcs too. So, in that regard, I am a bit dismayed, but then again Cui Bono did play on Pearls, so there is something. I hope to at least see more of this.

I think I'm just not going to pay attention to the interviews . . . . I'm getting dizzy trying to keep track of them.

That's it.

It's time to take this to its own thread.

Hey, people, lighten up, I thought this interview segment wasnt bad at all.

Yes, this is annoying, but really, we knew it allready, so I don't see the point in commenting on it, its something RHW clearly said he wanted to happen.

quote:

Sounds like a good thing to me.

quote:

"But if the Commonwealth needed Hunt constantly, if it couldn't sand on its own, then Hunt wouldn't have done his job properly. It has to be autonomous, or it wouldn't be able to do what it needs to do."

Very true.

Now THAT sounds like an episode worth watching!

Creepy. I've had the theme song from that show running in my head all weekend, and I couldn't figure out why.

Then I log on and see THIS?!

And yet, that's exactly the direction Sorbo is on record supporting.

I *loved* The Greatest American Hero... totally thought it was a hoot... Can't wait to see what episode they put William Katt in.

K.S. says, "'We're not going to take anything away from what the fans have loved about our show in the past."

I say: You can't take away what's already BEEN taking away.

Andromeda seems to rely on impressing us with guest stars, but I'd prefer to be impressed by good story & dialogue. And let's not forget doing something about the quality of the special effects.

Yet Drew if you read [/b]Nox's[/b] thread in GD about all the interviews it is obvious that KS has gone from to hell with the CW, to he will be there from time to time, to they will come together. So, I don't think KS knows what direction he is going in.

This I gotta see!

Any chance we can get the title of the episode in question?

I think it's "The Dark Backward", but I'm not 100% sure.

I gave up on DROM long ago, but I'm really enjoying this new weekly series, "The Kevin Sorbo Foot-in-Mouth Show."

So you're not taking away what current viewers like (the plot arc) but you're making sure that the show is accessible to new viewers (no plot arc). Nice doubletalk there. Dammit, Sorbo needs to leave LA and go to Washington! They could really use his talents there. Maybe Sorbo can find that elusive link between Iraq and Al Qaeda.
