An alien princess turns out to be more - or less - than she seems in an upcoming Andromeda season three episode. Sources today revealed the first information on 'Illusions of Majesty,' the eighteenth episode of Andromeda's third season. The episode is currently scheduled to be filmed in Vancouver next month with regular Stargate SG-1 director Peter DeLuise at the helm. Please note that the below plot information is based on an early draft of the script and information could change before the episode airs sometime next year.
As 'Illusions of Majesty' begins, the crew of the Andromeda Ascendant are forced to abort slipstream navigation and find themselves in Prolon Province, a garbage-heap of a galaxy filled with toxic waste. The Andromeda's navigation systems are ineffective in the hostile environment, and the crew attempt to leave the area as quickly as possible. When the Andromeda happens upon a hibernation pod being pursued by three well-armed Prolon vessels, Dylan Hunt orders the crew to attack the destroyers and rescues the pod. The pod's sole occupant - a young, beautiful woman - is brought aboard the ship. When Dylan goes to wake her, she kisses him! It turns out that the woman was being chased by the Royal House of Prolon, who say that she is their long-lost princess. The Royal Consul and his guard come aboard the Andromeda, anxious to reclaim their princess, and hurriedly change the woman - 'Princess Tura' - out of the 'street clothes' she was found in and into something more dignified. Tura awakes and demands to know who has brought her out of hibernation. As the Prolon entourage lay prostrate on the floor, Dylan boldly steps forward to take the credit. Unexpectedly, Tura slaps him across the face, before quickly recovering, claiming that she was still recovering from being in hibernation for so long. The Royal Consul steps forward and addresses Tura - they've been looking for her for several days and want to know what has happened to their princess. Tura says she's had "another one of my memory lapses," an explanation accepted readily by the Consul. But Tura isn't remotely concerned with what the Consul has to say - she's only interested in her brave rescuer. After the two flirt briefly over a discussion of the Andromeda's navigation difficulties, Tura offers her fleet as an escort until the Commonwealth ship is safely out of Prolon Province. She also requests a tour of the Andromeda, and Dylan readily obliges. Having left the entourage to make preparations for their tour, Dylan orders Rommie to investigate Tura. "If she's royalty I'm the Sqorm tooth fairy," he tells her. Rommie says she's already accessed their ship's computer and discovered that Princess Tura disappeared as a child during a revolution, only to reappear a year ago in a convent. Although the Prolon computer says her DNA matches that of the young princess, Dylan orders Trance to scan Tura and report back to him. While Dylan is giving the Prolon company a tour of the ship, Trance approaches him and subtly hands over a flexi. The captain glances at it quickly, then puts it away. Using all the charm at his disposal, Dylan tells Tura they can give her entourage the slip, and they run off, hand in hand. The pair end up in the engine room, where they catch their breath. "How would a royal princess ever learn how to slap a man that hard," Dylan asks Tura, luring the woman into a trap. Tura claims she's been trained in Bo-lan Fencing, Equinoid horseback riding and Shintaidan martial arts, but when Dylan challenges her to show a "basic dragon stance," Tura fails to deliver the goods. Dylan now lays his cards on the table. He challenges Tura with the information Trance gave him - she used molecular masking to fake her DNA and disarmed her pod's distress signal so she wouldn't be discovered as she escaped the system. Tura finally relents, revealing that she only posed as the princess to "get ahead in this galactic backwater." The problem is that she is revered in Prolon Province and can't escape. As she puts it - "those people will burn me at the stake," if they found out she was a simple con artist. Dylan demands she tell the Prolon people who she really is, and promises to protect her. Their pact is sealed not with a handshake, but with a kiss. However, Dylan and Tura aren't out of the woods yet. Soon a group of Prolon monks turn up, claiming that Princess Tura is in fact their goddess - 'She Whose Name Cannot Be Spoken' - and things go from bad to worse...
Please note that the above information only covers the first act of the episode, as our sources did not wish to provide details of the episode's resolution. Additionally, aspects of the episode may change before the episode goes to air. |

Well, I didn't read the spoilers, I was expecting a blurb when I clicked the link, not a full-fledged synopsis . But I read the bit about Peter DeLuise and Yay! I like his work on Stargate so this is good news. Maybe this is the start of DROM getting some Stargate directors, I sure hope it is, because some of them are really good. Shame the report doesn't say who wrote the episode, guess I'll have to wait a bit for that info to get out. |

eT let me point out the irony of your James T. Hunt comment in this thread while in the Enterpise thread you applaud the attempt to "recapture" the sexuality of TOS.

Anyways...this feels off. Who are these "sources". How can this level of detail of a late season ep be given like this? Is it a hoax? Is it some weird marketing ploy? Is it an attempt to test the waters to see if something like this would fly? I REALLY want to know who these sources are. Did Slipstream News verify the veracity of these "sources" before posting something in this detail? And if so, why aren't those sources disclosed? I don't ever remember a time when ep details were revealed without disclosing the source. Unless it's someone who's not supposed to have/not supposed to disclose this kind of stuff....which in and of itself presents a problem doesn't it? Just curious about one thing, how is Dylan a pimp now? Anyways the ep. sounds okay, not great, but okay, although it does say that the information comes from an early draft form of the script, so it could change, maybe from okay to good or even great (hopefully), but I'll reserve further judgement until I see it which won't be for a long while since it airs next year, well I guess thats all I wanted to say on this furture new episode. |

I gotta say it.... Res ipso loquitor. But I also gotta say.... Elaan of Troyius (TOS) !!! PS: It's really, really in poor journalistic taste to report news from anonymous sources. The least they could do is say where this came from on a general level (a writer, a producer, a recent visit, a source who would prefer to remain anonymous --even that would've been better). |

Mmmm... Nox, ya know what? I'm grateful to whoever gave this thing away, for whatever reason they had... and I'm guessing that it was to cause another reaction after the Wheel has been shown. This is the one source I'd rather see remain anonymous than get him/herself into trouble.

First, I think it's highly likely Peter DeLuise could be directing an episode, seeing he works on Stargate SG1 and that films down the road. If this turns out to be true, it'll be interesting to see what he does on the show. However, about the script spoilers - Yuck. I personally find this a horrible idea for a script IMO, while I figure this has a 80% chance of being a real script or part of a real script(possibly a item auctioned at the big Stargate SG1 con a few weeks ago???), I think Lil has hit the nail on the head when when she asks that someone needs to be credited as a source here. If the source can't be named directly, fine, but some sort of idea on who and/or where this information came from is needed (because actual show scripts (for any TV or movie) don't just fall from the heavens into the laps of eager fans As the news item is written up now, it comes off like it's some sort of a hoax (worse case senario) or at best a badly written out part of a A or B plot in a script.
PS: Lil, if they went back to filming the Andromeda at the start of September (after taking off August) then they should be filming Episode 14 or 15 about now. So a script for Episode 18 showing up now wouldn't be unheard of, though IMO the idea that it would be the final script would be seriously in doubt in my mind. |

quote: I agree. eT, as much as I respect you, I think you give ENT too much credit. the magic of TOS will never be recaptured, and that was when the stuff was in character for Kirk. In DROM, it is NOT in character, and in ENT, well, let's just say none of the characters strike me as sex types. And I htink this source should be revealed |

quote: Yeah but in Star Trek's case they are trying to go back to the beginning. They want to recapture the magic of THEIR first show. Not the bravest thing in the world but hey, they created TOS and for Enterprise it is working. Andromeda is NOT Star Trek, nor should it TRY to be. They will FAIL at this. This story SUCKS. I hope it IS a false spoiler because it will not work. Let *Star Trek* be Star Trek. They have been doing it for over 30 years and are pretty good at it. enTranced [This message has been edited by enTranced (edited September 27, 2002).] |

*Read-read-read* *Snort-!* (Oh, brother...) This ain't a script... It's really just a Script Treatment... Script (or Story) treatments are proposed storylines written before a script is created or finalized. They are not the same. I couldn't get worried about this so-called "plot" if you held a loaded forcelance to my head... or paid me a Million Thrones. or dunked me in a tank of Sparky Cola and let loose a pack of Rabid Warferrets... Relax... Breathe Deep... Seek Peace... |

Starlock, the problem here is that the news item as posted says this is a early version of the script, not a draft or script treatment. Throw on top of this the fact that Lil seems to have confirmed it's a script, not a treatment, and that Seth won't clairify what's going on, one way or the other (though he does seem to be hinting that it's a script treatment, backing up your take on it) and I can see why people are getting upset. Should posters be upset? Well why release the news item in this version if it wasn't to upset fans? I have to seriously question both SlipstreamNews and whoever leaked this as to just why it was leaked in this form (i.e. version) and then posted as news, in the first place. Because IMHO if you changed the names to any other SF shows charater and posted this to that shows forums, you'd get a similar negitive reaction. So I believe what happened here was done to stir people up, plain and simple
PS: I think a even more worrying aspect of this is that someone behind the scenes leaked this to begin with. This is a serious breach of etiquette, IMO, and this doesn't bode well for the show overall |
