The first episode of season two titled 'The Widening Gyre' aired on Canadian network Global at the weekend, meaning that several spoiler filled reviews are now available online.

• Along with a brand new opening theme, the show now opens with the following monologue:

  He is the last guardian of a fallen civilisation,A Hero from another time,Faced with a Universe in chaos,Dylan Hunt recruits an unlikely crew and sets out to re-unite the galaxies,On the Starship Andromeda, hope lives again.

• Thanks to Lady Maigrey the log line for 'The Widening Gyre' is now also known. "If we do not live another day, say this over our pyre: They died like High Guard Lancers, with their faces to the fire."

• For those who can't wait to see the episode, several spoiler-filled synopses have appeared online. Lady Maigrey has a full synopsis and 100 screen captures of the episode. The Doktor's Diary also has a huge synopsis and commentary, as well as screen grabs.>"Here we are back again with the Season 2 opener of Andromeda. This episode doesn't waste more than a couple of minutes with a precis to bring us all up to speed on last season's cliffhanger," wrote the Doktor in her review of the episode. "The immediate difficulties are solved in a fairly satisfactory manner ie. getting everybody back alive and getting away, while the ultimate failure of the Nova bomb preserves the main bad guy and gives urgency to Dylan's ongoing Commonwealth initiative."

• Online reviewer VoidPrime awarded the episode 5 marks out of five. "This episode sets up things to be explored in future episodes and future plot lines can easily branch out from this episode," he wrote. "This is the one of the best conclusions to a two part storyline I have ever seen for a sci-fi show." His full analysis can be found here.

'The Widening Gyre' is set to air in most US markets from October the 1st. In the United Kingdom, the episode will be shown on Sky One next Monday, October 2nd.

I can't mention spoilers in the title, because this isn't a Slipstream post, its a SlipstreamNews article, and those things work differently.
