Two days from now, American viewers will have a chance to see the last television work of Laura Bertram (Trance Gemini) before she signed on for 'Andromeda', as starting this Wednesday, American cable channel HBO will be be re-airing the fifth episode in their 'Dear America' drama series, entitled 'So Far From Home'.
'Dear America' is a Canadian drama series from Scholastic Productions, consisting of a series of live-action specials exploring "American history through the eyes of teenage heroines." The first several episodes were set in the 17th and 18th century, but 'So Far From Home' portrays Massachusetts in 1847, where a young Irish girl named Mary Driscoll works in a mill. Take a look at how Scholastic describes the episode:
With the potato famine devastating her homeland in Ireland, Mary Driscoll must leave her parents to seek out a better life in America. Mary finds work in a mill, where working conditions are dreadful. Although her new friends encourage her to join the union, Mary hesitates to speak out for fear of losing her job. When her dear friend, Sean, is falsely accused of murder, Mary must decide if she is ready to face her fears and sacrifice everything to save him.
'So Far From Home' will air five times in August, starting this Wednesday at 4:00pm on HBO East. A full list of airtimes can be found by following this link. If you are unable to see the episode, it is also available on video from Scholastic, as it originally already aired a year ago. The episode runs for 27 minutes.
