Lots and lots of things to announce here - I hope you'll bear with me. First of all: the new Slipstream Rules I've been promising for ages are here. Our aim with this revision was to make things a lot easier to follow and understand. The document is much less intimidating, has less little clauses and it much more succinct. It may have lost a little of its specifics, but we felt that getting a simpler document in place was the goal here. I'm afraid those looking for vast changes will be disappointed. But I think you'll find something else in there to make you happy. Besides, you could say we scrapped the Policy - it's now called the Slipstream Rules. I need to thank everyone who helped me with this revision - even the ones who didn't know what they were doing, exaclty. Cheers! Next on the agenda is a fantastic new toy I'm excited to show you. Now accessible from the main menu is the Slipstream BBS Warnings and Bans Utility. This is a nifty little program created by Verteron to track the warnings and bans we hand out when the Rules are breached. Previously, a record of who had been warned, when and where was only available in a thread in the private Officer's Quarters. This was confusing for members, and also pretty confusing for the mods too. I hope you think this as great an asset to the BBS as I do. Huge thanks go out to Verteron for all the time and effort - as well as endless badgering from me - he expended on this project. The BBS owes you a debt. There are also some Staff changes to enact. A couple of recent incidents in the Slipstream News items forum lead us to decide the time was right for more active moderation in there. Thankfully, the experienced Techfreak Ziana answered my call for help, and agreed to move from the General Discussion forum to SSNI. Into her place moves Rayhana, who has graciously agreed to step into the General Discussion forum alongside Andi. We're sure you'll do a great job Rayhana! And I think that's about it. If you'd like to comment on any of these items, you can do so here in QSF. Thanks all! [This message has been edited by Lisa (edited July 24, 2002).] |
