Ban: The Jam
      #366 - 2001/10/05 06:33 PM

After accumulating a total of 10 warnings, The Jam has been banned.

I do hope you can excuse me, but the Policy only lists the period of a ban up to a month. I'm pretty sure this is a 3 month ban, but I need to consult with Christian to make sure.

My apologies. Soon as I know for sure how long it is, I'll let you know.

If you need to comment on this action, I direct your attention to the QSF forum. You could even use this thread that's already open on the issues at hand.

Thanks for your patience.

-Lis

*Blinks* Wow! That was quick. I only saw one of the Jam's posts, for which he was warned. Man, 10 warnings. Nice going Mods and Admins. This new policy just might work after all.

Wow! That was fast. How long did it take him to get himself banned? 1 day? Two days? Less than 1 day? Glad he is gone though. Major league trouble maker.

*Applauds*

That was very entertaining. Nothing like the occasional freak popping up to mix things up a bit. I vote for a perma-ban. So, what's going to happen to 303?

If 303 and The Jam are the same person (which is very likely), they'll both be banned. Multiple usernames.

EDIT: Of course, I'm just a lowly Diamond Than, so I could be wrong.

Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you'll find many unexpected things.-Shigeru Miyamoto

Well, a mark in favour of that would be the fact that 303 joined on the 04 oct, the start date of the first unban The Jam thread, meaning it may have been his first post. The odds are against someones first post being something like that. Of course, it could be a friend of his, I guess.

He could have received more, but things were already at critical mass. As Lisa has said, let's continue this in the thread she linked to.

Hey guys. I got the official word on the way the warnings and bans policy works. My apologies for not getting this done sooner.

The current system is cumulitive and cyclical, if that makes any sense. If you reach the end of the cycle, you start again at the beginning, with the new bans added to the old. Yes, I know this is quite tricky to get your brain around.

6 warnings is a month. 2 a day, 4 a week, 6 a month. Any additional warnings are then added to their record. So if you have 10 warnings, you get a ban of a month and a week. 12, 2 months. 14, 2 months and 1 day. 16, 2 months and a week. 18, 3 months.

So by my reckoning, The Jam gets a ban of one month and a week. He'll be due to be unbanned on Novemeber the 12th.

And -- if past behavior is any indication of future behavior -- banned again on the 13th.

Thank you, Lisa.
